Description

The community of Qamani’tuaq is the only Nunavut community located inland at approximately 300km from the coast. The Baker Lake itself is the main water supply to the community and there are growing concerns with respect to the quality of water under the dire of climate changes, but also according to industrial development, and pollution from daily community activities. Steered by the Baker Lake Hunters and Trappers Organization and in partnership with ARCTIConnexion and Ryerson University, the water quality project was launched in 2018 and is driven by youth from the community.

This program is funded by the Climate Change and Health Adaptation Program.
